The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiatives (MISI) is a strategic initiative spearheaded by YB Steven Sim, the current Minister of Human Resources, with the primary objective of empowering the Malaysian Indian community through upskilling and reskilling in high-demand sectors.
MISI was officially announced by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a special Labour Day interview on May 1, 2024, where the Prime Minister unveiled a funding commitment of RM30 million from KESUMA, MITRA, and the Ministry of Finance. In November 2024, MISI launched its inaugural Phase 1, focusing on technical, vocational, and skills-based training programs. To date, 95 programs have been successfully conducted, benefiting 5,000 Indian participants from all walks of life.
