Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MiSI) Policy

  1. Introduction

The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MiSI) is a government-backed program under the Kementerian Sumber Manusia (Ministry of Human Resources) aimed at upskilling and reskilling Malaysian Indians through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). MiSI is committed to providing high-quality training, employment opportunities, and career development support for participants to enhance their socioeconomic standing.

  1. Objectives

MiSI aims to:

  • Enhance employability through TVET-based skills training.
  • Provide financial assistance for skills development programs.
  • Strengthen industry collaboration for job placements.
  • Support entrepreneurship and self-employment initiatives.
  • Ensure inclusive access to skills training for all eligible Malaysian Indians.
  1. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for MiSI programs, participants must:

  • Be Malaysian citizens of Indian descent.
  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Meet the specific entry requirements of the selected TVET course.
  • Demonstrate commitment to completing the program.

MiSI offers a variety of training programs in sectors such as:

  • Manufacturing & Engineering (Welding, Machining, Electrical)

MiSI provides fully or partially funded training programs, including:

MiSI collaborates with leading industry partners to:

  • Offer on-the-job training opportunities.
  • Facilitate internships and apprenticeships.

All participants, trainers, and training providers must:
